The FIRST SATURDAY QUADS
On the First Saturday of Every Month, the Palatka Chess Club hosts the First Saturday Quads.
This tournament is held at 521 S 13th Street in the Red Cross/Bridge Club Building at the corner of Hwy20=Crill Ave and 13th Street in Palatka.
All Players are listed from highest to lowest by rating. The Top 4 play in Quad 1, the next 4 into Quad 2, etc.
This way, you are assured of playing those who are closer to your own strength and if you're a bit sharper than your current rating, it's a good way to prove it against similar rating levels.
Overflows roll into the bottom section, where there could 5 or 6 or even 7 players in a small three round swiss.
Entrance Fee is only $ 12 The Winner of Each Quad gets their choice of a Nice Trophy, or $ 25 in Cash. In the event of a tie, the prize is money only, which is split.
This monthly event is played at a time control of G/90 5 Second Time Delay is Permitted The Event is USCF Rated
There's Free Coffee and a large fridge where you can put your lunch, then microwaves are available as well.
If you want fast food, there's Subway, Wendy's, Blues Grille, Pizzaboyz, Kentucky Fried Chicken and others in convenient driving distance from the playing site.
Round One : Player one white vs. Player four Player two white vs. Player three
Round Two : Player three white vs player one player four white vs. player two
Round Three : Player one vs Player two Player three vs Player four (toss coin for color in third round)
